Here is what I am using:

This is the kit (I DID NOT BUY FROM THESE GUYS!!!)

There are other options out there,  I also have a Porter Cable which I like.

There are many many other options,  But for real wood work (more than 1/2" thick parts) I like routers with at least 2HP, you can do much with smaller routers (my porter cable is about 1.25hp) works great on small stuff and in tight places and can cut 4/4 wood but one has to be careful it is light, it can chatter if overworked, it also does not take 1/2" bits.

One Final thought: for those who are doing big projects and are "live aboard", buy a 20' container or a  16' + car hauler trailer to make into a shop (they will save your lungs and your pocket book and make your life much easier in the end). Store wood, keep the boat clean, have room to work, can be used as a paint booth, allows work in the rain, can be heated (elec works the best) etc. etc. and in the end if you sell it for half of what you paid you did not spend to much for it (just the storage cost)

    Best of luck
    Norm

P.s. I do use the Dewalt in my table saw table (a craftsman with a router mount in the left wing ) My wife bought it for me (the table saw) and I do love it, well maybe really like it.

    PPs.
In case anyone is interested I do have an old 16' enclosed car hauler for sale for 2.5K +/- (set up with benches and some wiring for 120 volt.  in Oregon
