    All,

Looking to make my inner forest on my W32 removable, as I sail the Chesapeake with a very large genny. Looking to make tacking easier.

    1. Is this recommended? I dont want to compromise rig or put unnecessary stresses on anything

    2. Has anyone done this? If so, can you provide pics os modification or list parts used?

    Thank you,

    Jason

Hi Jason , I'm not sure about a W32 , our W28 has a removable forestay  .  Ours is nothing fancy , it was fabricated from SS flat stock . Highfield makes one and Schaefer makes a really nice one . First is the Highfieid second is the Schaefer . Last is ours .

I just unscrew the turnbuckle for the inner stay and tie it out of the way.

    Works great.

I’m with Tony. My 32 had a big Genoa when I bought her - too much headsail - generally a pain to set properly, forget about tacking with an inner forestry and a beast to roll up on my furler.  I had the sail cut down to a yankee with a new staysail. Overall the two sails working together out perform the big genoa, give me more sail trim options and easier to manage single handing. Not to mention she’s a cutter not a sloop and two headsails is simply a beautiful rig underway.

Best of luck whatever you decide.

    Don
