    Hello,
I recently bought a long desired W32, she makes alot of noise.
    Is it her age?
I'm older than hull #191 and I don't creek much yet.

    Thanks,
    Carl

    Carl,

We have W32 #251 and while we haven't had her out in any big storms we've been through some really snotty chop and she doesn't make much noise at all.  The only real noise we get out of her is when I step on the cabin sole and put all my weight there.  I'm a heavy guy.

1st, is your boat a kit or a factory finished boat?

2nd.  Have you checked the tabbing of the main bulk head to the hull.  When I discussed our boat with a PO that circumnavigated 3 times in it, he cautioned me to double check this part of the boat.  He had spent a lot of time having it glassed over again to make sure it was secure.

Do you notice any localization of the sound or is it all over?  What are you doing when it is creaking so much?

    Tate,
I meant that the sole creeks like it's an old house, sorry I wasn't clear.
I'll be sure to check the bulkhead.
    Thanks,
    Carl

Our (factory) W32 does not creak out at sea.  I suggest a stethoscope to precisely locate the location of the noise.

I have creak near hatch covers in the sole especially in the vicinity of the sail locker, but nowhere else.  The hatch covers are a pretty good fit so any give will translate into sound.  I thibk creeak is usually associated with wood-on-wood so you can expect lots of creaks and groans on older wooden vessels.  Part of the charm of such ships.

Our Kit W32 does not creak too.  Locate the noise!

I located the noise today.   I'm very sorry for the bother as I found it to be something stored on deck causing the distraction.  I thought I checked everything.

    Cheers
