I think we have a Shaffer traveler . It is leaking from I think the rubber end cap , I need to get it off and I can't figure it out (imagine that). Anyhow from underneath I was expecting to find a bolt hex head but there was nothing . Question , has anyone ever taken this part apart ?

It’s just a straight stainless pin that is pushed down into the endstop.  If you grab the top of it with some vicegrips and pull up/twist it should come out.  It does not normally extend into the deck, it just goes into the track.

Thanks Kevin , then it must be the screw next to it . It looks like it had been leaking for a while , the  plywood in the over head had been soaking it up and was starting to delaminate . It's on the quarter berth side so there is a piece of teak covering up the area where the screws are . All I have to do is fix the leak , put a little epoxy on the delam area and I'm done .

When we first got the boat , it had been leaking in the V berth and the head liner was ruined . That was a bit of a project , good thing I was a lot younger .
