Where is the Morning Wind?

I am reaching out to this community, because I thought you might be the place to look.  I don't think my grandpa (Paul Yarrington) was ever a big contributor here, but he bought a bare hull westsail 32' in 1974, spent 3 1/2 years getting it ready (in his yard in San Diego) and then spent 10 years cruising in the "Morning Wind" with his wife Betty.  They did Hawaii, Puget Sound, the panama canal and the east coast up to New York.

I'm hoping to find out if anyone here knows what might have happened to her?  He sold the Morning Wind to a Joe Lewis, who circumnavigated with her.  Joe then sold the boat to Tom Crank, who I believe was quite active here at WOA for a number of years.  My grandpa corresponded with him as well, but as the years went on my grandpa slowed down, and he just didn't have the time or energy to keep up.  Paul passed away late last month, and I had an interest in seeing what became of the boat.  If anyone knows anything, I would very much appreciate any information you have.  Thanks so much.

    Regards,

    Cole Yarrington

Cole:  I don't have any data searching the names of the people you mentiond nor the boat names in our records.  I have send this question to Bud Taplin who keeps very complete records.... hopefully he will find your GP old boat.

He and his wife cruising adventures were extensive and they must have had great stories to tell.

I do show Joe Lewis in the Circumnavigators page.  Let me do more searches ... and get back as new information is found.
