Just got this in my e-mail: Say it aint so Jay!

     Sad News (Help)........Jay Bietz

    Hello,

How are you doing? we had a visit to Manila Philippine, unannounced some days back, Unfortunately we got mugged at gun point last two nights.

All cash, Credit card and cellphones were stolen,It was so traumatic,Thank God we have our life and passport saved,we have been to the embassy they are not 100% helpful so i concluded that returning back home will be the best option.we also have limited means of getting out of here,as we have canceled our cards So i won?t get a new card till i get back home.

I really need your support & assistance as my flight leaves in few hours, but i have problems checking out of the Hotel,as i need to sort out some bills, Wondering if you could loan me some few bucks to sort out the hotel bills and also take a cab to the airport. Let me know what you can do..

Awaiting to read from you soonest,

    Thanks & regards,

    Jay

As did I, and I'm certain we all got one.  This is a Phishing Attack, and Jay needs to get into his account and change his password immediately (Something very difficult too).

I highly advise everybody to not reply to that poorly worded and poor grammar (unlike Jay's writing) email.

    Hi all:

Thanks for all your concerns - yes cash is always accepted - but I'm not in Manila but in rainy Roseville, CA working away...

I have heard from many of you via message/facebook/phone calls and updates on your adventures.  If you called - I may have asked for images from your next delivery - you know who you are!!

What happened is that persons unknown added their email to my sbcglobal account - so I've changed my unique password on that account as well as this site (it was a different password already) just to be sure.

Yahoo/ATT did send a warning message this AM that a new email had been added -- I thought that was phishing so ignored it.!!

Sorry for the annoying email's but I'm not in Manila maybe later on if I get to cruise ....

Jay,  So glad you are ok.  Roseville is a pretty good place to be.  It isn't snowing. Those email scammers can be really entertaining.  I thought you may have lost your hold on the english language, but doubted it.

    Happy sailing,  Thom
