I have a leak by the bottom bolt of the shaft log where it meets the hull.  Anyone out there has had a similar problem. How did you fix it, and is it something that can wait until the fall hull out.

I had the same leak several years ago, slow and annoying, but not enough to cause panic.  I ended up pulling the stern tube and rebedding it during a haulout.  The process was not difficult but as I recall it took quite some time and effort to get the prop off, coupling off, shaft out, stuffing box off and stern tube out.  It seems like might be possible to just pull the stern tube out a ways with the shaft still installed.

    James:

Here is are a few links that may help.Robert Sutton's work  and an album of images from members.    This area is a bit confusing until you get a chance to work on it.

I'd recommend you have the new cutless bearing on hand when you do the work as if it's very old at all it will probably need replacing.
