Hey! I'm currently looking at a Westsail 42, and am just looking for some feedback on peoples general thoughts on these boats (I know, posting to a westsail forum it may be a little biased hehe). Would love all opinions; what you hate, what you love, and everything in between!

    Cheers.

Hey Luca , I think you'll get the best answer here . We don't have a W42 and I have never sailed on one . I have seen a few though . My favorite is the the 42 as I love  the center cockpit , I think it really lends it's self to some nice canvas work . IMO I do not care for some of the hard dodgers that some people come up with .

Another good thing is you have some choices for the rig I even saw one Schooner rigged .

Good luck keep us posted .

    Mark .

    Luca,

Contact me at my email  bud@westsail.com, and I can probably direct you to some great information on the Westsail 42s.  I have seen and been aboard many of them, and even designed the rig and built the one schooner in the fleet when I was operating my boatbuilding company, Worldcruiser.

Hi Luca! You're barking up the tree of a great boat and a really solid network of owners. For sure get in touch with Bud- he's an invaluable resource! If you'd like to chat with an owner please feel free to get in touch! My wife and I purchased our Westsail 42 in 2013, lived aboard in Seattle for a couple years, and then took off cruising down California and into Mexico. Would be happy to answer questions, share photos, provide our [biased] opinion, etc :) Cheers!
