Halyard blocks

    I want to run the sheet halyards to the cockpit. I am wondering what others have done to secure the blocks at the base of the mast to direct the halyards to the fairleads? I have seen this done by screwing them all in at the base of the mast but I am not real hot on drilling multiple holes to be seized up with stainless screws. Does Lafiel make a collar with block holes that would clamp on?

    I used the tabernacle to mount blocks - with tufgel (sp) as a lubricate to keep the SS screws from seizing.  I'm sure that a custom plate could be made to attach to the mounting bolts for the tabernacle but at a $$$.  

    You could call LaFiele and ask... 

    In 2005 I worked with Don Averill (562) 921-3411 ext. 330 to purchase the new mast.

    I just replaced two of the bolts in the mast base with eyebolts and attached the blocks to those eyebolts.  It was fairly cheap and simple to do as I had the headliner out at the time with easy access to the backing plates and nuts from the inside. 

    If you are going to remove your mast base any way, Garhauer makes some nice Mast Plates that that can be placed under your mastbase.  They have ears with holes for attaching blocks.
