Back in 2008 I posted on this forum regarding the Spin-Tec 2000 furler that came uninstalled with my purchase of my W32 Devon's Whisper. Well I had it installed and it works perfectly just as billed. It is very sturdy with the 4" stainless drum and Delron bushings. It requires no maintenance as there are no ball bearings or headstay halyard bearing(the Jib halyard is removed after hoisting the sail to a special hooked fitting above). I have never needed to lower the sail although I purchased the halyard car accessory to do so. I have a storm jib that can be hanked onto the staysail headstay if needed so the Jib just needs to be furled in a blow. [Running backstays needed prevent excess stress on the mast at the staysail headstay tang.] It furls easily with the oversized drum and since the drum is not enclosed any wraps can be dealt with easily. I am very satisfied with this furler after having so much trouble with bearing seizures and fouled headstays with the furlers on my two former sailboats. I'm not sure if this company is still in business. Does anyone know it they are still marketing this product?
