These blocks started out made by South Coast . They originally had plastic cheeks , I modified them to what you see here . I used Teak for the cheeks , and varnished . The straps are brass , axel is SS . I used the snap shackles (#4 Merriman)  and the snatch latch and the sheave from the original blocks  .  Note that the ends of the straps are screwed together so they are easily disassembled for re coating . Also I put on the stand up shackle on the bottom of the block .

These are big and heavy , 2.5 pounds each  they are 9 inches over all . Too big for our boat !
