On Saturday, March 25, 2022 I checked out this W32 that is offered for sale by a broker.  An interested buyer asked me to come look at the boat with him.  In my opinion the boat is a good buy because the interior is in absolute excellent condition, built by an excellent craftsman, and excellent for offshore conditions.  The exterior is in need of some work and money to bring that up to snuff, because she has not been used in some time.

That buyer decided not to buy the boat, but I would advise anyone looking for an excellent value to check this one out.  I am not receiving any remuneration for this advice, only wanting to see the boat go to someone that will keep her going in the Westsail fleet.

The broker is at California Yacht Co. in Long Beach and his phone number is 562-469-5047.

Yes, this is the boat.  Well worth the asking price, but maybe a slightly lower offer would be considered.

Bud's additional comments - added by Jay Bietz with his permission.

It is a kit boat, but whoever did the construction was a craftsman, and she is built for offshore with lots of handholds.  The table is on two heavy aluminum posts, and the portside berth can be extended out so it forms a very large double bed.  Otherwise the interior is pretty much the standard center layout design.  The Perkins 4-108 engine started on the first push of the button, and ran well.  Teak trim was very well done, and the interior looks like new, no scratches or dings.

The exterior needs refurbishing, varnish is in need of restoring, teak decks need work on them (or removed), gelcoat is crazing on cabintop and deck edges.  The equipment includes roller furling on both head stay and staysail stay, long bow pulpit, stern pulpit, Aires windvane, cabin top lockers on both sides, hatch turtle, lots of self-tailing Lewmar winches, and on and on.

Maybe $4,000 to $6,000 in materials to restore the exterior, plus lots of work.  Not worth it to pay a yard, but worth it for a do-it-yourself owner.  Asking price is $37,000, but I think they may take less.  I want to pass on this information to someone else seriously looking for a W32 and willing to spend under $40M (I think Bud meant $40K DJB) to wind up with a W32 in seaworthy condition.
