There's a Gale Warning up for Juan De Fuca Strait today, so I think they'll get some more excitement before they get home...http://weather.gc.ca/marine/forecast_e.html?mapID=03&siteID=07010

    Hi,

    News from Dave this morning:

"Hello,  Yes, I'm ready for a change. (Ya think?)  Down to about 145 miles to Tatoosh. (Basically, Tatoosh is a rock...probably can't see it on a regular map!)  Wind back to 25k from the North. (Yuck!) Hope all is well at home and work. (It is!)  ETA still the same, but a bit ahead of last prediction.(Cool!)  See you soon,  Love,  Dave"

    Hi,

Dave and Duke are busy getting into the Strait of Juan de Fuca this morning so no email. I got a message from Stan, the radio man, last night after he had just spoken with Dave on the radio. Stan and Irene are anchored in a place called, "Cake", Alaska...I think he said. At that time Rhino was 58 miles from the entrance to the Strait and doing well. As they make their way today I'm anticipating that they will arrive in cell phone range. After I hear from Dave I'll send you a short update. Is that good news or what?

    Hi,

I just spoke with Dave on the cell phone. Denise, he says Duke doesn't have the "bars" on his cell phone, yet! They are about 1/2 of the way to Pt. Angeles. He says he composed an email last night but Sailmail wouldn't go. Dave says he just now took off Connie's pjs! They plan to stop in Pt. Angeles tonight and arrive in Bellingham about midday tomorrow. All is well aboard...motor and transmission are working. Jay, Dave says to relay thanks to John Mendoza Marsh Duck W32  (....."he was right" about the gear changing! They are still debating about how to get home, but Dave is leaning towards the train. (That is what I recommended given the traffic problems on I-5 due to bridge collapse and closure in Vancouver, WA.) Dave says he wants to thank a lot of people for thoughts and suggestions. I told him he could sign-off to this email group when he gets home!

    Well, I feel better!

    Ruth

    Hi,

Rhino had a long day moving against the current, but is safely tied up at its delivery destination in Bellingham, WA! I hear they've got a serious case of sea legs! Congratulations to the guys! Dave and Duke are working on details to get selves and gear home and plan to both take the train to Portland on Saturday. Duke will be our houseguest until he flies home to Denise on Tuesday! Denise, what is Duke's favorite kind of cake?

    Ahoy to all,

Duke and I have arrived in Portland today after a train ride from Bellingham.  The delivery of Rhino is over.  It took a total of 42 sailing days to cover the 4800 miles.  Of course there are a lot of stories but I will not go into them now.  Suffice it to say that this was not an easy delivery and I am glad it is over.  I am tired.  I did not realize that Ruth was sending you all up-dates on this last leg.  I appreciate all your responses though and appreciate you all just being there for us.  Thanks again.

    More later,  Dave
