After taking care of Westsail boats and owners for over 50 years, Bud Taplin is retiring and passing the torch for the Westsail Parts business. Often referred to as the Guru of all things Westsail, Bud Taplin was the first production manager of Westsail and developed the manufacturing and production methods for the original Westsail 32 in 1972. He was also responsible for building the tooling for the Westsail 42.

In 1974 he left Westsail to start his own boat-building company, Worldcruiser Yacht Company, building custom boats and helping Westsail owners finish their boats. He also continued on to start the Westsail Parts Company.

But fear not, Bud will still be around for questions and advice as needed. I will be carrying on his legacy as the source for Westsail parts for repair & restoration. I have owned Westsail 32 Tortuga for over 27 years and have extensive knowledge of Westsails and will do my best to continue serving the Westsail community. Bud will still be available at bud@westsail.com and I can be reached at randy@westsailparts.com.

The new Westsail Parts website is a work in progress and I am still adding informational pages on parts and pieces:  www.westsailparts.com

If you are in need of any parts right now, feel free to send me an email with what you are looking for.

Additionally, I am building up the owner/customer database of all Westsail owners. Please enter your current information here  : https://zcform.com/nPGOi

A heartfelt thanks to Bud for his years of support to the Westsail community! I will do my best to help keep the fleet afloat!

    Cheers,

    Randy Leasure

    Hello Randy,

Thank you for picking up this important lifeline of access to Westsail parts. Good news that it will be carried forward and Westsailors will be able to continue to maintain and restore their boats. Good on you!
