If you have round portholes and aren't lucky enough to have factory-made bug screens for them, AND want a cost-effective solution, please take a look at my most recent blog entry.  I think I've figured it out.

    Hola again Steve and Lulu

Great solution. You project passes the SICMOH test with flying colors.

    Simple
    Innovative
    Cheap
    Materials on hand

I need a porthole cover  for one that is permanently open which I use to vent my room air conditioner and was going to make one using your idea yesterday afternoon but then I wanted to get caught up with your blog and next thing you know, there went the day.

    Maybe manana.

By the way, what kind of generator have you got on board?

We have one of the ubiquitous Honda 2000 generators found on nearly every cruising boat down here.  We like it fine.  It's pretty quiet, doesn't use much gas and almost always starts on the first pull.  We hadn't used it in quite awhile until we got back here to La Paz for repairs.  Out in the islands, it seemed like the solar panels kept up pretty much with our use.  But here, we fall behind and have to run the generator every 3rd or 4th day.  What's the difference?  The only thing I can think of is we use the computer much more here in La Paz since we can get on the internet.  Out in the islands, we just use it to watch a movie in the evening.

As to writing a book, the trouble with a blog is that, if I was to write a book, I'm afraid I'd just be repeating what's already in the blog.  But thanks for the compliment.

Great idea! I used wooden embroidery hoops on Daemon for the same effect.
