Bent and twisted mast?

Shortly after I bought my W28 I noticed that my mast, beginning at about halfway up, was cocked rather severely to port and the spreaders were twisted so that they were pointing fore and aft about 10-20 degrees. At the time I didn't understand about rig tensioning and it's effect on the mast so didn't find the cause. Prior to my owning her she suffered some fairly significant cosmetic damage during a storm when attacked by marauding mangrove trees. My bathroom door won't close either. Mast compression? Oh Lordy...What have I gotten myself into?!

Can I determine whether the mast is bent beyond safe limits while it's sitting on the saw horses? Will I have to hire a rigger to check the mast? If I have to buy a new mast in addition to all the other expenses, I'm toast.

If it was me, I would call LeFiell or if some other type mast then that company (assuming they are still in business) They should be able to tell you over the phone I would think.
Its not clear from your post if the twist is still present when the mast is on saw horses or if the mast is still rigged and twisted..

A new mast is in the region of $5000
