Thought I should finally say hello and introduce ourselves.

Hi, I'm Brian, and I'm an addict. Yup, I am addicted to the idea of selling it all and sailing off into the sunset (with the wife of course!). Luckily, Katie has warmed up to the idea and will go along with anything, ok, almost anything I want to do.

Unfortunately, we are still a long way away from being able to cut the strings, but in the meantime I guess reading about everyone's adventures (and misadventures) will have to do! The good news is we are only barely into our 30s, so we should be living on the water by our early 40s and with all the strings cut by late 40s, at least with hopeful thinking.......

    Brian
Its easy if you don't tell anyone and start a plan. My wife and I just completed our two year downsize and bought our westsail a few months ago. It's been exciting and we wish we done this sooner.

Hi Mark. We are looking at all of them, but leaning more towards a 32. Granted, it will be a few years before we can actually get one, but looking isn't a crime, right? At least with Westis I even get to touch em!

*edit* the wife has 'informed' me that she would 'prefer' a center cockpit and all the room that comes with it, as well as the shade. Therefore, I guess we are more in to 42s.

Good choice .  I love the center cockpit 42 .  I think living aboard and cruising off shore
would require at least a W32 or even better a 42.
A while back  I did have the good fortune to meet the man who designed my little W28,
it was Herb David . He told me among other things, that he designed the W28 for two people to live on and sail the world . Well I really haven't done either one. Although In the
Summer we live on it and spend weeks at a time at Catalina Island . With no complaints.

The center cockpit is a HUGE draw for us, but I think I may prefer a 32 or even a 28. My main goal is to get out there and do it, on a budget, WITH the wife. My main worry is that if it is too much boat for her to handle, then we will be limited to short day sails.

I think as long as I can manage to provide her some shade, a cool beverage, and some smooth seas, I will be good to go.
