W42/W43 Tall vs Standard Rig

I have read that some people have the 'tall rig' option. Can someone clarify the differences compared to the standard rig?

From other information gleaned elsewhere it sounds like the standard rig had a 50 foot main mast, where the "tall" had a 55 foot main mast. It seems the standard rigs were single spreaders and the talls were double spreaders.

    Can anyone confirm this?

Also, anyone sailed the standard and tall rig? What were the differences in handling (motion, heel, etc)?

    Rob,

You are right about the different masts.  There are also a set of intermediate stays on the tall rig, so there are four chainplates on each side, instead of three.

    HI,

we have a third variation - owner special - standard height mast (49'6" above coachline) but with double spreaders and intermediates. This is on a W42 ketch.

STill completing refit so can't tell you yet how it sails, will let you know!

We do have original  sail plans for this and standard configurations if anyone would like to see them.
