What tool should I use to remove the depth sounder transducer knob?  I don't want to mess up the glass too badly but I do want that thing off my hull. Boat hemorrhoid. It's gotta go.

I'm thinking sawzall?  Long cross-cut saw? Stick of dynamite? Laser? Light sabre?  Grinder?  Fein Multimaster?

    What?

Paul, Pygmalion had a large knob also on her stb side that was used with a large display with a rotating blip showing the depth.  I recall that there as a 3/4 to 1" hole through the hull and a nut on the inside that when removed allowed the transducer to be removed.

    Hope this helps

Thanks Jay, that does help.  What did you use to remove the knob after getting the fitting out?

Well I got the knob off. It was an old depthsounder transducer with a 1" brass fitting through it.  I indulged in a sawzall and put a long bendy blade in it. Took the knob & brass fitting off nice `n sweet.

    Work progresses.
