    Hello James,
I found that building the frame myself gave me exactly what I wanted shape wise. I used 1.125" stainless tubing readily available from iron and steel manufacturers. I think I paid about $70 for enough tubing to make the frame. This was bent over a plywood pattern.
After that, starboard was mounted to the deck and cabin top for the canvas to mount to.

I then paid a professional to cover the frame with canvas. The result was something I'm very happy with.

The shape is very close to Dave Kings dodger which I shamelessly copied...., it is nicely proportioned and "fits the boat"

Thank you so  much for the information.  I think I will proceed and make my own frame and have a professional do the cover for me.

    Gary...

Do you have some shots of the frame and how you've connected it to the deck as well as the starboard.  I've been considering doing one myself for sometime and maybe now is the time to start.

The starboard was cut into long 1.5" x 1.5" strips then run through a table saw to get about a 50 degree angle on the face. This is where the canvas attached to. It was screwed to the deck and cabin top with countersunk screws
