This is general notice to alert the WOA members and Westsail owners to the launch of Bud Taplin's new website at...

Bud has never been one to "toot his own horn", so I'm making this announcement on his behalf.

The topics on the all new website include Installation NotesParts that Fail, and a list of Westsail Parts & Supplies and several other sections of interest to the WS owner.

But, best of all, is an online version of Bud's  Westsail Service Manual. As you know, this manual was previously sold as a photocopied printout. Each time you needed an update, you had to request a new one to be mailed. But it is now offered as a web-based application that you are sure to find to be a more user-friendly format... and it's FREE!  Each section of the manual has a list of parts and supplies that pertain to the section topic, with related items offered at discounted "package pricing". This is the best way to ensure that you have everything on hand when you start the project.  Furthermore, you'll find Bud's pricing to be lower than you'll find elsewhere. This manual is one the best references a Westsail owner can have at his disposal.

The new website, along with Bud's knowledge is invaluable to the Westsail owner. Check it out, and don't forget to bookmark it. We all owe Bud a debt of gratitude for sharing his knowledge in this wonderful gift and a true legacy to the Westsail family!

    Jack Webb

PS: I should add that the site has even been optimized for the viewing on the iPad, since this device is in such wide use today.

To the many folks who have been visiting WestsailParts.com, your feedback and suggestions would be appreciated.

The site does not yet have online ordering, but that will come soon. But if you have any thoughts about what might make the site easier to navigate or better ways to format some of the information, please let me know.

    Jack

If you take away everything Bud has supplied for my boat, I bet it would sink.  Thank you, thank you.

Thanks for your comments, Carl and Ken.

Jay just  added the menu link "Westsail Parts Company"  to the "Westsail Info" menu category. In addition, he added a link in the footer of the WOA site (bottom of this and every page). Between the two, owners should be able to gain quick access to the Westsail Service ManualWestsail Parts, etc. I think you'll find this to be an extremely useful reference, when your boat heads to the work yard!

Thank you Jay, Dick and Terry for making it so easy for owners to find the new site!

Is something up with the site? No matter what link I click on or saved link I go to, I end up on the parts listing. Do I need to buy something to get to the boats for sale page ;-) ?

Edit, ok, not ALL links go to Parts page, just ones that include curPage=XXX

Is it just me or ?

    Brain,

I have noticed that also.  I would contact Jack Webb and ask him, however he has just launched his W32 after a very long restoration, and has some problems with running the engine that he rebuilt.  His daughter is there, and waiting for him to take her to the Bahamas, as he has promised to do.  Therefore, I do not feel like bothering him just yet, at least not until he gets his engine problems worked out, and is able to head for the Bahamas.

Thanks Bud, wasn't sure if it was on my end or what (my browsers have been acting up lately). Thanks for the quick reply!

Sorry, gentlemen. It was a minor glitch in a single line of code. But that's usually all it takes to break a site, when programming at the core level. It's all fixed now... sorry for the confusion. Please let me know immediately, should something like this happen again.

I've been getting 4-5 hrs of sleep a night over the past few weeks, while getting Drifter ready for her voyage to the Bahamas after 7 years on the hard. There was a time I could get by on that. Clearly I need more than that these days.

Since this discussion got started while we were still out cruising the Sea of Cortez and thus, away from internet connectivity, I had no idea this new website even existed.  Now that I've seen it, all I can say is THANK YOU Bud & Jack!  This site is awesome, and not awesome like the kids use it (to describe almost anything that's even vaguely cool) but rather as in "awe-inspiring".  Seriously, so much info in one place and organized so it's all easily accessible.  Muchas, muchas gracias!

-Steve (finished gushing but still stoked)
