Sping 2008 Windblown has arrived!

Jeff and Wendy have delivered the Spring 2008 Windblown; it can be found under the Member's Area. This one is chock-full of cruising logs which is just what we need after a long Winter. Looks like we got a lot of great participation from you, the Association, in putting this one together, and it is all the better for that, thanks! If you'd like to contribute a story and/or photos to Windblown, just address whatever you have to the Editor e-mail listed at the bottom of the page! If your item didn't make it into this edition, then it is likely queued and ready for the next edition. Keep those submissions comming!

@#*%&^ Spam

As many of you may have noticed, the message board has been getting spammed mercilessly lately. I've decided to open all topics to Registered Users only. All current WOA Members should already be Registered Users on the Message Board, so, try posting with the same user id and password that you use to enter the Member's Area of the website.

Anyone else who would like to be able to post on the Message Board, but who does not want to be a member of the WOA can drop me a line at the boardmanager e-mail address listed below, with their desired user id and password and I'll set them up on the board. Remember, your user id and password cannot contain any embedded spaces or unusual characters. So, s/v Intrepid would not be valid, but svIntrepid would be.

Members - The WOA Needs You - Help Wanted

Volunteers are always needed at the WOA to support various aspects of the organization. If anyone has minor computer skills and can help with the membership database and/or help update the website, it would be nice to have backup, in case I leave town once in a while. We could also use someone to develop and expand the store. Colleen has done a great job getting some gear together for the rendezvous, but we should be selling these things online. I'm sure she could help with the products, and I can help with the online store front. At the very most, it only takes a few minutes a day, so it is not going to be a big strain on your schedule.

Every position at the WOA is strictly voluntary (read that as Unpaid but highly rewarding). Not one dollar of your membership fee is spent on salaries or other compensation. If interested in becoming a more active member of the Association, contact boardmanager AT westsail DOT org for more information!

Welcome

Welcome to the Westsail Owners Association (WOA) website. Here you will find information on some of the finest cruising boats ever built – Westsail. The Westsail Corporation of Costa Mesa, CA, though brief in its existence, revolutionized the cruising boat industry and made long distance passages an achievable aspiration for hundreds of families, couples and single-handed adventurers. Cut short by the oil embargo and associated inflation of the 1970’s, the Westsail legacy continues to this day as one of the finest examples of cruising boat design and functionality. With five basic models to choose from – 28, 32, 39, 42 and 43 – and countless interior layout options, Westsail sailboats offer a varied selection to meet the varying demands of the cruising sailor.

The WOA is an association of hundreds of owners and wannabes who work together to maintain the fleet, share information and facilitate communication amongst its members. Through our online message board, our quarterly newsletter, group purchases and six annual gatherings around the country, members share their experiences and techniques to ensure the continuation of the Westsail legacy. As a resource, the WOA can help you contact a specific owner, track down a specific boat, find hardware that is difficult to locate in your area and help expand the collective understanding of its owner members and the sailing public.

To Join the WOA, simply click on the link above entitled 'Join' and fill out the membership application. This provides us with important information about how you wish to receive the Windblown Newsletter, as well as information about the Westsail you own, or hope to own soon! Once you've filled out the application, you will be provided with an address where you can mail a cheque, or, to gain access to the member's areas of the site more quickly, we encourage you to go to the 'Online Store' link and pay for your menbership there. Welcome to the WOA… and the start of your sailing adventure.
